Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had led some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
